Government issues a warning against phoney RBI notifications promising beneficiaries $4.59 billion.

The central bank does not provide any such transfers or cash, according to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), via its fact-checking Twitter account.

The RBI never phones or emails people to inquire for personal information, it was further said.

The government claimed on Wednesday that a bogus notification was published under the Reserve Bank of India's name, offering the beneficiary INR 4.59 crore.

A government entity called the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said via its fact-checking Twitter account that the central bank does not provide any such transfers or cash.

Furthermore, it stated that the RBI never phones or emails people to request personal information.

The false notification was also posted on the social media account of the PIB.

The letter requested personal information so that the recipients of the recent schedule for payment of $4.59 crore,

who were designated as beneficiaries, may be credited.
